v0 App to App Store: Why a Next.js Export Isn't an iOS App
v0 app to App Store: what carries over from your Next.js export to a native iOS and Android build, what gets rebuilt, and the fixed price. Book a call.
Table of Contents
You can't take a v0 app to the App Store as it is, because v0 exports a Next.js website, not an iOS app. Most of your v0 work still carries over to a native build. Your screens, flows, copy and backend stay. Only the UI layer and the phone-specific parts get rebuilt. This guide covers what is actually inside your v0 export, which parts move straight into a native iOS and Android app, which parts have to be rewritten, and what that build costs at a fixed price. If your v0 interface is ready and the App Store is the next step, see how our AI prototype to production service handles these builds. Or book a call and we'll tell you what carries over and what has to be rebuilt.

Can a v0 app be published to the App Store?
Not directly. Your v0 project has no iOS build to submit. There is no Xcode project, no app binary and no native screens. You have React components styled with Tailwind, Next.js routes, and maybe some API routes deployed on Vercel. So "v0 to the App Store" really means one of two things:
- 1. Wrap the web app. You put your deployed Next.js site inside a native container (Capacitor or a plain WebView) and submit that.
- 2. Build it natively. You rebuild the interface as a real iOS and Android app and use your v0 screens as the design spec.
Why a Next.js export isn't an iOS app: browser code, not native views
v0 output is made of div, button and Tailwind classes. It runs in a browser. An iOS app is drawn with native views. React Native and Expo use their own components (View, Text, Pressable) and their own styling. Your v0 components don't run there unless they are rewritten.
Next.js features that need a server
Server components, server actions, middleware and API routes all need a Node server. A native app is a bundle installed on the phone. It talks to a backend, but it can't be the backend. With Capacitor, you have to export your app as static files or point the shell at your live site. Either way, the server parts stay on the web.
Apple's minimum functionality rule
Apple's App Review Guideline 4.2 says your app should include "features, content, and UI that elevate it beyond a repackaged website." A WebView showing your site with no push notifications, no native navigation and nothing that uses the phone is the kind of app that gets flagged under this rule. Wrapped Bubble apps run into the same thing, and the Bubble community gives the same advice: add native features or expect trouble at review.
Wrapper vs native build: what you actually get
A wrapper can make sense if your users already live on the web and the app is a convenience. If the app is the product, a wrapper usually means fighting review first and the user experience after. Here is how the two compare, wrapping the v0 site with Capacitor or a WebView against a native build with React Native and Expo:
- What ships. Wrapper: your website inside an app shell. Native build: real iOS and Android screens.
- App Review risk. Wrapper: Guideline 4.2 rejection if it feels like a website. Native build: standard review.
- Offline, push, camera. Wrapper: plugins added one by one. Native build: built in from the start.
- Feel on the phone. Wrapper: web scrolling, web gestures. Native build: native navigation and gestures.
- Login. Wrapper: browser cookies inside a WebView. Native build: secure token storage on the device.
- In-app payments. Wrapper: you still need Apple's rules for digital goods. Native build: set up with RevenueCat or Stripe as needed.
- Best for. Wrapper: an internal tool or a store listing for existing web users. Native build: a product people download and come back to.
How to turn a v0 app into a mobile app without starting from zero
A native build doesn't throw your v0 work away. Most of the thinking survives. Here is what carries over:
- Screens and layout. Your v0 screens become the design spec. Spacing, hierarchy, colors and copy are already decided.
- User flows. Onboarding, the core loop and settings are mapped out. That is often the slowest part of a project, and you've done it.
- Backend and data. If your v0 app talks to Supabase or a database, the schema, auth provider and row level security rules can usually stay. The mobile app connects to the same backend.
- API logic. Business logic in your API routes can stay on the server and serve both the web app and the mobile app.
What gets rebuilt
These parts are rewritten for the phone:
- Every UI component, from Tailwind and HTML into native components.
- Routing, from Next.js routes to native navigation (Expo Router or similar).
- Auth handling on the device, from cookies to secure storage and deep links for magic links or OAuth.
- Phone features your v0 app never needed: push notifications, permissions, the camera, offline states.
- Store assets: icons, splash screen, screenshots, privacy details and the submission itself.

A checklist before you ask anyone for a quote
Not sure if your v0 project needs a rebuild or just a cleanup? Book a call. We'll go through this checklist with you in 30 minutes, free. Bring these to a call and you'll get a precise answer much faster:
- 1. The link to your deployed v0 app, or the exported repo.
- 2. A list of screens, marked "must have in v1" or "later".
- 3. Where your data lives today (Supabase, another database, nothing yet).
- 4. Whether you charge users, and for what (subscription, one-off, physical goods).
- 5. Which phone features you need: push, camera, location, offline.
- 6. Whether you also want to keep the web app running alongside the mobile one.
What a native build of your v0 app costs
Your app on the web, iOS and Android is Fixed at $3,460, delivered in about 20 days. We agree the price before we write any code. Your v0 screens make scoping faster, because the design questions already have answers. You can see how the build is structured on our MVP development page. Here's what you get:
- Your app on the web, iOS and Android.
- Design included.
- Progress shown every week.
- 100% of the code on your GitHub.
- 2 weeks of fixes after launch.
When to call a team instead of doing it yourself
Wrapping a v0 site yourself is a reasonable weekend test. For more on moving AI-built projects to real apps, browse our AI prototype to production articles and our iOS and Apple guides. Bring in a team when:
- Apple has already rejected your wrapped build.
- You need push, payments or offline before launch.
- You're showing the app to investors and it has to feel like a real product.
- You've spent more time on Capacitor plugins than on your product.
Does v0 make mobile apps?
v0 makes web interfaces with React, Next.js and Tailwind. They work in a phone browser, but they are not native iOS or Android apps. To get into the stores you need a wrapper or a native build.
Can I use Capacitor to put my v0 app on the App Store?
Yes, Capacitor can package your v0 web app as an iOS app. The server features of Next.js won't run inside the shell, so you need a static export or a live site. Apple can reject it under guideline 4.2 if it works like a repackaged website.
Can I reuse my v0 code in React Native?
You reuse the design, the flows, the copy and usually the backend. The UI components themselves have to be rewritten, because React Native doesn't render HTML elements or Tailwind classes the way a browser does.
How long does it take to turn a v0 app into an iOS and Android app?
We deliver in about 20 days, Fixed at $3,460. A clear v0 prototype helps, because the screens and flows are already settled before the build starts. Ready to take your v0 app to the App Store as a real native app? Book a call and get your fixed quote before we start.
